Propulsion

The Propulsion Module is aimed specifically at the propulsion of the vessel. It highlights the performance of the propulsion system and gives the operator invaluable information for making informed decisions for the most economical operation of the propulsion system. The Module provides a complete overview of the propulsion system, including propeller, shaft and main engine. In addition, the total energy balance for the propulsion system is presented.

Propulsion Data Acquisition and Logging is connected to the Alarm System (monitoring system) and Power Management System. Extra sensors are added when necessary measurements are not accessible through these systems.

The Module display is split into three main monitoring sections: Overview, Main Engine(s), and Propeller(s).

The Decision Support for the Propulsion Module uses measured data along with hull-resistance and main-engine models and optimization algorithms to generate recommendations regarding the RPM, pitch, rudder and thermal efficiency.

Optimal values and recommendations regarding parameter adjustments are shown in the Module display. Recommendations contain information about the current operation and settings, and inform the operator what would be gained by changing the parameters to other given values.

The Propulsion module is available for a variety of types and sizes of propulsion systems.
