Bunker management
ISSUE: Keeping track of the quality of bunkered fuel and ROB
An important day-to-day task for chief engineers is balancing fuel consumption and bunkered fuel in order to keep track of fuel remaining on board (ROB).
From the points of view of both operational safety and operational efficiency, it is required that daily fuel consumption is reported and that automatically logged measurement readings are verified.
Fuel oil bunker quality is important for operational efficiency and has become increasingly important with the increased focus on environmental issues. With more and stricter Emission Controlled Areas (ECAs), it is important to monitor and provide traceability for fuel burned.
SOLUTION: The Marorka Inventory Unit
The Marorka Reports Unit combined with Marorka Inventory enables vessel operators to keep an electronic record of all fuel oil bunkering and usage.
The registration of different fuel oil properties in the Inventory Unit facilitates the generation of bunker reports and environmental reports (with reports with valuation of NOx, CO2 and SOx).
Key features of the Inventory Unit are:
- Registration of bunkered fuel properties
- Review of measured fuel oil usage
- Confirmation/correction of fuel oil usage
Registration of fuel oil properties is fundamental for emission reporting. Emission reports inform vessel operators of the emissions resulting from voyages, and increase awareness of environmental issues. This is fundamental for the conservation and improvement of the environment.
