03 Aug '05 The Executive Director of the European Environment Agency visits Marorka
On the 16th of June 2005, Professor Jacqueline McGlade, the Executive Director of the European Environment Agency visited Marorka in order to learn more about the company in general and its environmentally friendly energy management system called Maren in particular.
Marorka was the only company visited by Professor McGlade during her visit to Iceland. The professor mentioned that she had heard a lot about Marorka and the Maren system and as a result, she decided to visit the company while in Iceland. Óttar Freyr Gíslason, a specialist from Iceland’s Ministry for the Environment, accompanied Professor McGlade.
Marorka was honoured to receive such an honourable guest and was pleased to be able to discuss the Maren Energy Management System face-to-face.
Dr. Jón Ágúst Þorsteinsson, Marorka’s Managing Director said the following about the visit: “Professor McGlade’s visit is both quite an honour and recognition for Marorka. The Executive Director of the European Environment Agency actually took time from her busy schedule to discuss environmental matters with us”.
As is noted on the agency’s website; the European Environment Agency aims to support sustainable development and to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe’s environment through the provision of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy making agents and the public.
