07 Apr '17 Visit from the former president of Iceland and the founder of the Arctic Circle
Our offices were graced with the presence of former president of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, Chairman of the Arctic Circle. The main objective of the visit was to discuss the environmental issues facing the Arctic region and the efforts Marorka is making to limit the carbon footprint of shipping fleets and combat ocean acidification.
Mr Grimsson has played an integral role in paving the way for our operations in the Far East, along with So Wikki, our Regional Director Asia Pacific. Their endeavours led to the opening of our service centre in Busan, Korea, and the establishment of our Energy Management Training Centre in Shanghai.
The Asia Pacific region is important for us in Marorka as well as for the maritime community in general. By strengthening our presence in Korea, China and Singapore, we have positioned ourselves for further growth in the region.
The Arctic Circle is a network for international dialogue and cooperation on the future of the Arctic. It is an open democratic platform with participation from governments, organizations, corporations, universities, think tanks and others interested in the development of the Arctic and its consequences for the future of the globe.
Marorka has always been dedicated to the environmental aspects of energy and performance management, and we welcome the interest and support we receive from Mr Grimsson. Everyone at Marorka was pleased and honoured with his visit to our offices.
