24 Aug '15 Marorka takes part in the Reykjavik Marathon
Every year, Marorka supports various charities by encouraging Marorka employees to take part in the Reykjavik Marathon, which is held now for the 32nd time.
This year about 25% of Marorka employees registered, which is quite impressive. The Marorka running team amassed 165 km, and raised 151.500 ISK for various charities.
The Reykjavik Marathon is held in the morning of the so-called Cultural night (Menningarnótt) in Reykjavik, a national event that brings up to a third of the entire population of Iceland onto the streets of the capital. Therefore the atmosphere surrounding a race is electric.
Around 1,000 runners participate in the marathon and 2,000 in the half marathon, making both races less crowded than is generally the case in larger events. Reykjavik Marathon also includes 10k, 3k fun run and children’s run distances, it’s also a family event.
Two of our employees took part in the 21 km race, 12 in the 10 km and one in the 3 km run, and all crossed the finish line, and raised money for charity. We are proud of our employee’s dedication for raising money for charities in the Reykjavik Marathon.
